A CHARITY providing advice and support for isolated and vulnerable people has received a cash boost from an amateur dramatics company.
Peakland Players produced a staged radio play of the classic science fiction story War of the Worlds, which was performed at Ashbourne Town Hall in January.
Steve Hughes of Peakland Players, said: “We raised £785 which was almost all through ticket sales.
“We chose Derbyshire Dales Careline because it is an Ashbourne-based charity which is very localised and works with people in the Ashbourne area.
“We’re trying to get back to doing more than one performance each year and this was an ideal opportunity.”
The Peakland Players have become renowned for their staged radio plays, but are moving towards a more traditional play for this year’s Ashbourne Festival with a production of The Fumblings at Friar’s Bottom.
The £785 cheque was presented to Derbyshire Dales Careline at St Oswald’s Hospital.
