Another ice block falls

Written byBY GARETH BUTTERFIELD

LESS than eight months after a homeowner in Hulland Ward narrowly missed being hit by a block of ice that fell from the sky, a home in Duffield has also been hit.

Paul Walker and his wife Dierdre were relaxing in their conservatory when the huge ice ball plummeted from the sky and punched a hole in the roof of their bungalow.

The ice block, which landed a few feet away from where they were sitting, was thought to have originated from an airplane passing overhead but it was never officially concluded to be the case.

However on Monday Duffield Resident John Parker reported a similar incident, with a block of ice reported to be the same size as a football falling through his house roof.

Mr Parker points out that Duffield, Hulland Ward and East Midlands Airport are lined up as if part of a flight path, pointing towards plane route.
