Ashbourne pilot to scale great heights

AN ASHBOURNE man who is training up to take on one of the world’s toughest climbs has organised a fund-raising event to help top up the amount he passes on to charity.

Mount KilimanjaroJason Tuck, an airline pilot from Thorpe View, is setting off in January to climb the legendary Mount Kilimanjaro but, before he tackles the climb, he wants to raise as much money as possible on his home turf and he has organised a charity millionaire’s evening, which is taking place this month.

Already around £900 has been raised for the National Autistic Society, a charity he chose because his youngest son was diagnosed with autism this summer.

Included in the total so far is £154 raised during a cake sale on an Ashbourne market stall but the next event in Mr Tuck’s fund-raising calendar is hoped to become an even bigger money-spinner.

The charity millionaire’s evening, casino and disco, takes place on Friday, November 30 from 7.30pm at Ashbourne Golf Club in Wyaston Road.

Tickets are priced at £10 and prizes are on offer for the casino winner, and also for the best-dressed millionaire or millionairess.
