A MATRON at St Oswald’s Hospital has been hailed a ‘Healthcare Hero’ at a recent awards ceremony.
Tina Sullivan receievd an Extra Mile Award, which is aimed at honouring staff at Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Trust for their outstanding efforts.
Tina was described as an inspirational leader who nurtures her team to do the very best for patients and families in their care and always puts patients first.
She was nominated for the award by colleagues. Co-worker Kavi Berry said: “All aspects of Tina’s approach are rooted in her desire to deliver the best possible care for patients.
“This can be demonstrated by her open door policy for families, patients and carers where they can discuss concerns and questions with her on a regular basis.
“She is not only visible on the wards, she is also accessible to them at any time via her phone.”
Tina, who has been a nurse for 33 years, has been in her current role as hospital matron for eight years.
