ASHBOURNE Town Council has responded to calls from the owner of a doomed town centre cafe for help in finding another site.
Councillors were sent a letter from Susan Rowley at Ashbourne Coffee Stop in Shaw Croft Car Park, who has lost her planning battle to keep the popular mobile cafe open.
She wanted help from the town council in finding an alternative site for the business, which was deemed not to be in keeping with the surrounding conservation area by the district council and a government inspector.
Councillors, who had been in support of the cafe staying during the retrosepctive planning changes, said it was ‘really sad’ the cafe had to close but they were not in a position to help find an alternative site.
Members of the town council’s environment committee agreed last week to write back to Mrs Rowley wishing her all the best in finding a new site.
She is currently due to close in November.
