ASHBOURNE Radio has bought one of cartoonist Peter Rigbyʼs News Telegraph cartoons, after station bosses admit they “fell about laughing”.

The Church Street-based cartoonist, who has been offering News Telegraph readers his humourous take on life in the town for three weeks, penned a witty sketch about Ashbourne Radio’s award-winning commitment to the Plain English Campaign following a story about the station’s local presenters last week.

Director of the Windmill Lanebased commercial station, Steve Jenner, said: “As soon as I saw the cartoon in the Ashbourne News Telegraph I had to have it.

Everybody just fell about laughing.

“It’s going to have pride of place on the studio wall; Peter certainly seems to have a cartoonist’s eye. Anyway, he’s drawn me with a full head of hair so you can say what you like, he’s done me a favour there.” Mr Rigby called in at the studio to hand-deliver the original print of the cartoon — the second to be printed in the News Telegraph and the second he’s sold so far.

To enquire about buying any of the cartoons you see in the paper call Mr Rigby on 01335 347331.
