THE KINDER Children’s Choir season is set to return with a Bux Fizz concert at the weekend.
The concert at St John’s Church Buxton, is the sixth annual concert in which a well established opera singer has been invited to join the choirs on stage and the choir members say it is their favourite event of the year.
Previous special guests have included the international opera star Frances McCafferty.
This year’s event will see the return of soprano Giselle Allen (pictured right), who is back due to popular demand.
Giselle Allen, originally from Northern Ireland, is making a name for herself in opera houses all over the world.
The opera star recently appeared in the classical event of the year, Benjamin Britten’s opera, Peter Grimes which was performed on a large set by the waves on the beach in Aldeburgh.
Giselle was praised for her performance in the production of ‘Grimes on the Beach’
Choir Director Joyce Ellis said: “Giselle will be treating us to Puccini arias from Madame Butterfly, La Boheme and other delights.
“The concert choir is also fresh with success in Normandy in July and raring to go with a new season.
“The programme will feature the wonderful sound of the Kinder Choir singing popular classics such as ‘I Was Glad’, ‘Cantique de Jean Racine’, ‘Nella Fantasia’ and a finale of Oscar-winning film songs with Giselle and the choirs joining forces.”
Joyce Ellis founded the Kinder Children’s Choir in 1991 and 20 years later they are now an important part of the high peak music scene and an interational award-winning choir.
Joyce has also announced that the choir term has now begun and they are looking for new recruits.
