AN ASHBOURNE firm is already being inundated with orders for Christmas decorations.
Bosses at Plantscape, in Hulland, have reported record orders for their solar-powered festive street decorations.
The firm is having to specially manufacture dozens more of its lamp-post-mounted Christmas trees, which are run off a battery powered by the rays of the sun, to meet the extra demand this year.
Mark Stone, managing director of Plantscape, said: “We developed the solar powered Christmas trees ourselves and are the only company in the UK who supply them.
“They are a unique concept and while they have always fared well, we are experiencing a huge rush of orders this year, which has meant that we have had to start preparing for Christmas early to make sure that we have enough stock to meet the demand.”
The artificial trees are covered in dozens of white LED lights and have a solar panel mounted above the top branches which converts light into electricity for a battery in a planter at the base of the tree.
