Classmates remembered

Written byNATALIE WAKEFIELD

CLASSMATES from Ashbourne Methodist Primary School have shared fond memories of their school days.

Former pupils of the school were prompted to get in touch with the News Telegraph after the publication of a photograph of the school’s choir circa 1956 in last week’s newspaper.

The photograph was kindly lent to the newspaper by Joan Lane, who responded to an appeal for information about the school in the 1950s by BBC Inside Out researcher, Rehannah Mian.

Jan Smith, Peter Wilson, Laraine Renshaw and David Tomlinson all contacted the newspaper with memories of former classmates and helped put names to the faces in the photograph.

Pictured are: Back row (left to right): Gillian Sellors, Delia Brown, Pamela Mottram, Dorothea Sandall, Peter Wilson, Adrian Smith, Diana Walker, Judith Hatton, Richard Locklear, Bernice Dakin and Laraine Burston.

Mr Wilson said: “I lived at Clifton and I remember catching the train to school.”
