CHILDREN at a Sunday school have presented their parents with specially-made cupcakes following a Mother’s Day church service.
Youngsters at the Sunday school of St John The Baptist Church in Mayfield made Simnel cupcakes based on a recipe created by Janice Owen, wife of village vicar the Rev Ray Owen.
Mrs Owen was inspired to create the recipe from the tradition of young girls working in service baking Simnel cakes for their mothers in preparation for a visit home around mid-Lent.
The children presented posies of flowers to their mums during the service and had created portraits which were displayed in the church.
