A CONTROVERSIAL plan to hold additional practice sessions for motorbike racing will be considered by the planning inspectorate following appeal.
Derbyshire Dales District Council refused to amend planning permission at Darley Moor Sports Centre to allow weekly sessions for motorbike racing practice, set-up, rider training and motorcycle testing between March and October late last year.
Now though, Darley Moor Motorcycle Road Racing Club has appealed to the planning inspectorate to reconsider the application.
The original application was refused on the grounds of noise and it’s affect on people living near to the race track.
Villagers from Ednaston and Wyaston gathered at Wyaston village hall last week to discuss the proposals with their district councillor, Councillor Andrew Shirley.
Councillor Shirley said: “The noise on both race days and training days is already very intrusive and disruptive to a large number of those resident in local villages, any increase in days will be very damaging to all within this part of Derbyshire.
“While Darley Moor provides leisure opportunities for spectators there is a limit of noisy activity that one can tolerate and this limit has already been exceeded for many.” Darley Moor Motorcycle Road Racing Club were unavailable for comment at the time of going to press.
The planning inspectorate are inviting anyone wishing to make representations to the appeal to do so by contacting them at teamp2@pins.gsi.gov.uk by August 16.
