Day centre for elderley is hit by overnight break-in

Written byBY GARETH BUTTERFIELD

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a day care centre was raided in an attack over the New Year period.

The intruders broke in through a side door of the Henmore Centre, in King Edward Street, between 4.30pm on New Year’s Eve and 9am on Wednesday, January 2 and smashed their way into three offices in the wooden building.

Doors into each office were smashed off to gain access and filing cabinets were tipped out and searched but nothing was taken and the lounge area was untouched.

Police officers and forensic teams spent Wednesday last week investigating the site and its users, who were due to spend the day there, were moved to The Leys Resource Centre in Derby Road.

Anyone with information is asked to call Derbyshire Police on 101
