MONEY raised at a showcase held by an Ashbourne jewellery firm has been presented to its chosen charity.

CW Sellors, which has a shop and a workshop in Ashbourne, has passed on a cheque for £2279.67 to the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.

Staff and customers of the family firm raised the funds at an annual showcase held in the grounds of Chatsworth House each Christmas.

This year’s event saw charity collections centred around a jewellery steam cleaning service and donations were made in exchange for a photograph with Father Christmas, while wearing £275,000 worth of diamond jewellery.

Ladies queued up to have their picture taken with Santa and, in exchange for their donation, they were given the opportunity to don a Hans D Krieger 108.6 carat brilliant cut diamond necklet and matching bracelet.

Liz Harris, NSPCC Duffield Committee Chairman commented, “This is a most fantastic amount of money and will be used to support the work of the NSPCC in Derbyshire.

“We are extremely grateful to CW Sellors for naming us as one of their charities.”
