WORK has started to bring a village pond back to its original condition with the help of JCB.
Cauldon Lowe and Cotton Community Group have organised the redevelopment of the pond which is situated off Main Road, Cauldon Lowe opposite to Moorfields Close.
However the work will have to be done in two stages to ensure that the wildlife in the area is protected.
One of the group’s members, Alison Bradbury, said: “We have already started our campaign for the Best Kept Village 2014 by beginning the re-development of the local pond.
“David Smith from the JCB’s test facility supervisor from Wardlow Quarry along with his team have overseen the excavation of half of the pond, after consulting their Environment Department and also having advice from The Pond Conservation Group.
“Cauldon Lowe and Cotton Community Group would like to say a huge thank you for all the hard work and effort that David and his team put in on a very wet Saturday morning. The parish council is also looking at erecting at War Memorial on the Millennium Gardens.
