A SERIES of discovery day events are taking place in Belper this weekend.
Belper North Mill is inviting people to visit the mill and explore the River Derwent’s influence reflected in music, sound effects and poetry.
‘Derwent: A soundscape for the River’ will be performed in Belper North Mill’s basement on Sunday from 11.30am until 4pm.
The sound collage features music, poetry, spoken word and effects and was created by George Gunby.
As well as listening to the sounds, workshops including how to make a top hat and bonnet will be run, as well as a time trail.
The events are part of the Discovery Days festival celebrating the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site which takes place from October 26 until November 3.
The usual mill entrance fee applies – £3.50 for adults and £2 for children.
