EVENTS across the Ashbourne area have been, or are likely to be, cancelled this weekend, as spring snowfall hit the country.

Derbyshire Dales District Council confirmed Ashbourne’s Saturday stall market has been cancelled because of more snow forecast in the coming hours.

Ashbourne Empire Cinema Group’s two screenings have also been cancelled because of the snow.

Lincoln should have been on the big screen this evenin and Wreck-It Ralph tomorrow morning (Saturday).

Now the two films will be shown next weekend instead with family film Wreck-It Ralph at 11am and Lincoln at 2.30pm on Saturday, March 30.

Ashbourne’s 50 Plus Forum meeting was cancelled today, while dozens of schools and playgroups closed.

The good news however, is that Ashbourne’s first CAMRA Beer Festival is at Ashbourne Town Hall all weekend, with a variety of real ale and cider available from noon until 11pm on Saturday and noon until 3pm on Sunday.
