A PCSO who has been a familiar face in Ashbourne for more than three years is hanging up her hat – and picking up a new one as a regular Derbyshire police officer.
PCSO Lucy Blackwell started her career with Derbyshire police in April 2010 and was originally part of the town centre and Marston area Safer Neighbourhood teams.
After a few months, she moved solely onto the Ashbourne beat and, during her time in the town has helped set up the ShopWatch radio scheme, visited schools and helped create Neighbourhood Watch groups.
She said: “It’s been a very challenging few years for many reasons but I’ve loved the variety of jobs and people that the role has allowed me to meet. Life as a PCSO in Ashbourne has given me many experiences, from chasing cattle down a road to dealing with anti-social behaviour and shoplifting.
“It’s been fantastic getting to know the local community and it’s very rare that I’ll walk down the street without bumping into someone I know.
She will be replaced on the Ashbourne beat by new PCSO recruit Peter Jones.
