The ACE and Zone 6 youth projects have been sponsored by Derbyshire County Council and Derbyshire County NHS Primary Care Trust (PCT) to go around the area and collect information in film form.

This will provide the PCT with valuable data to include in its new St Oswald’s Hospital development, in Clifton Road.

The hospital is due to be opened in early October, and the film will be launched later in the autumn.

As part of the project, the film makers will be touring the area with a sofa which will turn up at various youth clubs and public places, where young people are being encouraged to speak up and share their ideas.

Linda Rose, youth worker and project co-ordinator, said: “This is an exciting project that gives a unique opportunity to influence the future of young people’s health care in a fun and interesting way. Come and have your say!”

The first two filming opportunities take place in Victoria Square, Ashbourne, between 2pm and 4pm on Friday and Saturday.

Parents will need to give signed consent for young people to appear in the film, though there are various stages of anonymity if young people prefer, as some of the issues may be sensitive.

The team of young film makers are being led by Tony Wilmore, whois giving his time and expertise to the project free of charge.

Mrs Rose said that youngsters in the area have spent a long time planning the project.

She said: “The committee of young people have worked hard with other health care professionals in preparation of this project, supported by Qeen Elizabeth Grammar School, which always supports young people working outside school to promote their personal development and develop mutual respect between young people and professionals in the community.”

One young film maker, who did not want to be named, said: "This is a great chance to say what we want and make a difference in our own community.

“Come and say what you think! Don’t miss your chance.”

Filming will also take place in Tissington, Hulland Ward, Mayfield, Brailsford and within QEGS and other areas of Ashbourne during September.
