FRIENDS of Ashbourne Park are being urged to sign up to a scheme to improve the area.
Anyone with an enthusiasm to see improvements to Ashbourne’s recreation ground, sports pitches and Memorial Gardens is invited to join the group, which aims to undertake a series of projects within the area.
Two meetings to gauge support for the scheme and to collate different ideas for projects at the parks have been held in Ashbourne and now people are being asked to pledge their support by becoming a Friend of Ashbourne Park.
The scheme, led by Ashbourne Partnership and Derbyshire Dales District Council is supported by the town’s branch of the Royal British Legion and Ashbourne Town Council.
Ashbourne Partnership’s Sarah Wolfe, said: “Our main aim now is to create the Friends of the Park by asking people to join in the fun.” And now, 14 themes for improvement have been identified, including creating a riverside walk, improvements to the memorial gardens, a new wildlife area and a more prominent entrance opposite Shawcroft.
Membership of the Friends Group is open to any individual, group or organisation who wants to be involved at whatever level copies of the form are available on line at www.visitashbourne.co.uk or from the Ashbourne Partnership offices in 5 Town Hall Yard, telephone 01335 301145 or contact Sarah Wolfe via email ashbournepartnership@btco nnect.com.
