A NEW service has been launched at St Oswald’s Hospital in a bid to help people access information about health services.
Aimed mainly at elderly or frail people, the new Health and Wellbeing Zone offers a space to sit and research options for health and social care.
Pat Arnold is the site manager at St Oswald’s Hospital, and has worked in partnership with Derbyshire County Council on developing the new zone.
She said: “The idea behind it is to offer a range of books, leaflets and other information where people can find local services or get advice about staying well and independent.
“It is open to anybody to come along, have a quiet sit down and access information they may not otherwise hear about.
“Some people may want to look for a particular type of help or support, while others may want to browse to find out what is available in the local area.
“I’m sure it will greatly benefit our users and hospital visitors.”
The Health and Wellbeing Zone was officially launched in mid-December to coincide with the Derbyshire Dales Careline coffee morning. Users of the Careline befriending service who attended the coffee morning were among the first to see the newly designated zone in the foyer of the hospital.
Leader of Derbyshire County Council Andrew Lewer launched the hospital’s Health and Wellbeing Zone as well as being a guest of honour at the Careline coffee morning.
