GREEN-FINGERED Maureen Dawson is dwarfed by her massive 10ft Hollyhocks, which tower above her immaculately-kept garden in Ashbourne.
Mrs Dawson, 69, spends hours in her garden, which she uses to relax in between caring for her disabled husband.
Her garden, in Northcliffe, is awashwith her carefully-tended blooms, all of which she grows from seed, but it is the huge hollyhocks which dominate the plot - and they can be seen from the other end of the street.
She said: “I’ve never had one grow that tall before.
“It’s been growing for around a year and I just water it once a night when it’s dry. I don’t have to feed it or anything like that.”
Although, at nearly 10ft, Mrs Dawson’s impressive hollyhocks tower above her garden, they are some way off the UK record height.
The tallest hollyhocks ever grown in the UK are reportedly at least 20ft tall, which is the size of the average two storey house.
