ORGANISERS of this year’s Ashbourne Christmas celebrations are reminding News Telegraph readers of the events taking place this year to help people get into the festive spirit.
Late Night Shopping takes place on Friday, and will begin with a traditional lantern procession through the town.
Everyone is invited to take part in the procession, which begins at St Oswald’s Church at 6pm, ready to leave at 6.30pm.
The procession will flow in to the town, where streets will be closed from 5pm.
Church Street, some of Compton, Dig Street, St John Street, Market Place and Hall Lane will be affected by closures and restrictions as stall-holders set up and the shops prepare to open until 9pm to welcome Christmas shoppers.
Market Place stalls will be set up, a craft fair will take place in the town hall, and small rides and charity stalls will be dotted around the town.
Entertainment will include a climbing wall in Church Street, a fairground organ outside Natwest Bank and carols with Ashbourne Singers outside the town hall to welcome back the procession and officially start proceedings.
