A PAIR of pals from Ashbourne will be taking on a 35 mile sponsored ride next weekend to raise money for Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance
The two nine-year-old lads, Isaac Durkin and Josh Taylor were inspired by fund-raising at Blenheim Vets, in Airfield Industrial Estate, as the firm has raised more than £3,500 in support of the charity this year.
The boys are hoping to raise more than £500 from the challenge, which would be enough to fund the helicopter’s journey from its base, at East Midlands Airport, to Ashbourne and back.
Josh, said: “I saw all the fundraising being done at my mum’s work and I wanted to help out.”
Isaac added: “I see the helicopter flying over us a lot and I wanted to help them”
David Reeves, fund-raising manager for the charity, said: “It’s always inspiring to see young fundraisers motivated to raise money for a cause like DLRAA.”
