THE people behind a project to install life-saving defirbillators in the town have organised a meeting in an attempt to formulate an official committee.
The Ashbourne Defibrillator Project has so far raised nearly £3,500 which is enough to pay for at least on of the units, that are designed to restart a person’s heart in the event of a cardiac arrest.
Project leader Ann Smith, who works at Ashbourne Leisure Centre and is a town councillor, would like to see at least two installed in the town.
The money raised so far will help pay for additional costs such as fitting the defibrillators into their location, spare pads and resuscitation masks - as well as fund any extra training requirments.
Mrs Smith has called a meeting on Wednesday next week, at 7pm in the leisure centre’s community room and all are welcome.
Discussions at the meeting will help decide where the money should be spent.
