FOLLOWING on from our recent picture of staff at Ashbourne’s former County Secondary School, another Memory Lane reader has stepped forward with an old photograph.
This time it is a picture from the 1950s, showing the prefects of 1950-1951 lined up in the school grounds.
It was brought in by Mrs Enid Kent from Derby Road who, at the time of the picture, was Enid Chadfield and was head girl.
She became Mrs Kent when she married former head boy Tony Kent, who is also in the picture, around seven years later.
The pair have been married 56 years and jointly run Ashbourne haulage firm G and A Transport, which is based in the Airfield Industrial Estate.
In the back row, left to right, is Alf Sims, Ken Gibbs, Reg Bayliss, Tony Kent, Malcolm Pratt and Les Alcock.
In the front row is Beryl Smith, June Evans, Ivy Steeples, Enid Chadfield, Stella Barton and Lily Mitchell.
Are you in the picture? Or perhaps a relative? Do you have similar memories to share?
