A VAN driver from a village near Ashbourne has died following a collision with a lorry.
The 54-year-old man, from Foston, died from injuries sustained in the accident, which happened on Monday morning on the A52 in Mackworth near Derby.
The road was closed in both directions between Markeaton Island and the Markeaton Lane junction following the crash, which happened at 9.10am.
Police say the crash involved a van and a lorry and that both drivers were trapped inside the wreckage.
At 11.10am, police confirmed the driver of the van had been pronounced dead and he was due to be formally identified yesterday afrernoon.
Emergency services who attended the crash have told the News Telegraph that the driver of the lorry sustained “non-serious” injuries.
The road was reopened once investigations and recovery was complete at 3.15pm.
