CAN you help staff at an Ashbourne charity shop identify this mysterious object, which was donated by one of its supporters?
Manager of Ashbourne’s Age UK, Vanessa Wesson, saw the solid wooden item come in with a collection of donations around five months ago but nobody can guess what it might be.
Even some of Ashbourne’s antiques experts, who have been asked to help identify it, have been left baffled by the pan-shaped object, although it is believed it could be up to 200 years old.
Ms Wesson said: “We’ve had it for around five months and we don’t know what to do with it.
“We can’t sell it because we don’t know what price to put on it when we don’t even know what it is.
“We’d like to hear from anyone who might be able to identify it, or at least tell us what it was made for so we can put it up for sale.”
Anyone who has seen a similar antique, or can shed light on the mystery object is asked to call the News Telegraph on 01335 342847
