THE owners of a café and farm shop have marked the launch of their new premises this weekend by ceremonially cutting a super-sized version of their award-winning courgette cake.
Emma and Rupert Evans will cut the ribbon on their new 600sq m barn conversion at Denstone Hall Farm Shop and Café on Saturday, to toast the arrival of the latest investment to their business
The new premises offers seating for 85 people, extra shop space, a bigger kitchen and butchery, a new gift shop and a terrace offering views across the River Churnet.
It will enable the couple, who are creating 10 extra jobs as part of the expansion, to grow their range of locally sourced products, offer a wider range of food in the café and introduce a range of gift items.
Mr Evans said: “We are extremely excited about opening our new premises at last and we wanted to mark the occasion in the best way possible – by cutting into a giant version of what is undoubtedly our most popular product.
“It has taken an inordinate amount of work to get to this stage but opening the building is an extremely significant event, both for our ourselves.
“We believe, the area, which has proven over the past six years that it has real appetite for good quality, locally produced food.”
