ONE of Ashbourne’s fittest men has been drawn out to win a gym membership — as part of a Derbyshire Dales District Council prize draw.

Martin Farr, QEGS head of PE
Martin Farr, head of PE at Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School, entered a competition on the district council’s website while reading up on the waste collection service during a rare moment when he had some time to spare.

The 50-year-old sports enthusiast said: “I thought nothing of it at the time, I just got some free time and clicked on a link and answered some questions in a quiz. The next thing I knew I had a phone call to say I’d won.

“Although I’m a PE teacher I’ve never been a big fan of gyms, as I like to find other ways to keep fit, so hopefully this membership will get me in to the regime of going every day.” Mr Farr was the third winner of the competition, which ran throughout January on the Derbyshire Dales District Council website, is the head of PE at Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School, Ashbourne.
