CYCLISTS are gearing up for the first Peak District Cycling Festival which takes place this weekend.
The event, which runs from Saturday 7 to Sunday 15 September, features more than 60 rides ranging from gentle routes to exhilarating off-road biking complemented by a programme of workshops, films, fun days and opportunities to sample the area’s food and drink.
Councillor Mark Deaville, cabinet member for leisure, sport, parks and countryside at Staffordshire Moorlands District Council, said: “We’re really looking forward to welcoming cyclists of all abilities and ages to the Moorlands.
“It’s an exciting time for cycling with this festival coming so soon after the recent announcement of £7.5 million investment in cycling in the Peak District National Park.”
