PLANS have been submitted outlining what could become a brand new school for a village near Ashbourne.
The application for a much-needed new school for Brailsford, off Luke Lane, comes attached to a controversial plan to build 50 new homes which villagers fear will harm the character of the community.
The plans, by Miller Homes, would see 50 new homes built in fields off Luke Lane in a range of sizes along with a public open space and money to pay for the new school would be made available through Derbyshire County Council and the developers.
Derbyshire Dales District Council will be responsible for securing the deal and for consulting with villagers over the impact the proposed housing site may have on the village and its surroundings.
Plans will be publicly available on the district council’s website ahead of a decision by the authority due to be made in the coming months.
