A STAFFORDSHIRE Newspapers reporter is taking on a swim-athon challenge to raise funds for a Leukaemia charity.
Jo Craig, 20, a reporter for the News Telegraph’s sister title the Uttoxeter Post and Times, will be taking on a 2.5-kilometre swim-athon in aid of Cure Leukaemia.
She will be joining forces to raise money for the charity with fund-raisers Rob Smyth from the Burton Mail, who is running a half marathon, and News Telegraph photographer Geoff Merryweather, who is challenging himself to a 100-kilometre bike ride.
The fund-raising endeavour is in support of the News Telegraph’s Take Five Minutes campaign for the wife of editor Stephen Sinfield, Katherine, who is suffering from chronic myeloid leukaemia.
Miss Craig, 20, said: “I haven’t swum this kind of distance before but I’m looking forward to the challenge. I have always loved swimming and would go as far as to say it’s my favourite sport. The furthest I have swum to date is a mile.”
