ASHBOURNE Scouts and Cubs are appealing for help to get their pedal cars back on the track.
The group, which has competed in nation-wide pedal car races for the last 10 years, needs at least two new vehicles, and while the members can source parts for the racers, putting them together has proved to be a stumbling block for the youngsters and their parents.
Leader of the Puma Pack at 2nd Ashbourne Scouts, Gillian Elliot, said: “We bought the cars from the National Pedal Car Association, but after 10 years they have had a bit of a hammering.
“The parents have done what they can, but we need somebody with the skills to help us make new cars which meet the pedal car association specifications.
“The trouble is, we haven’t got much money, but the pedal cars need to be done properly so they are safe.”
The Scouts and Cubs are hoping to have two new cars ready for the national pedal car races which will be at Darley Moor on Saturday, July 6.
