AN ASHBOURNE man is going to be part of a team taking on a challenge of a lifetime by walking 100km for charity.
Tim Bell will be undertaking the 62 mile London2Brighton Challenge with his colleagues from the Horticultural Trades Association (HTA) who are taking part in the over the weekend of Saturday, May 25 and Sunday, May 26.
The team, called the Hortsteppers are aiming to complete the 100km (62 mile) walk, which includes 1,400 metres of ascent, in 24 hours and commercial manager Tim and his colleagues have been training since January.
Tim, who is raising money for premature baby charity Bliss, said: “Walking non stop for 24 hours with no sleep is no mean feat. I am sure we will all be looking forward to a hot soak in the bath and a long sleep after this and vowing never again, but I know the sense of achievement will be huge.
“We are all passionate about our charities and I am hoping the people of Ashbourne will get behind me and support me for this walk.”
Their route starts in Richmond upon Thames and heads south through London, then through the heart of Surrey and Sussex and over the South Downs towards the finish line at Brighton Racecourse.
