AN ASHBOURNE man has completed a 100km bicycle ride to raise money for the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Association 18 months after suffering a stroke.
Anthony Hubbard, 64, was unable to carry out any serious exercise for several months following his stroke but . wanted to do something positive so he bought a new bike, and took to the trails to get fit.
He said: “It was hard work, but I set myself the 100km ride as my goal.
“Having a stroke brings one into contact with a host of support, for which I am very grateful, but it also brings home the reality that there are many not so fortunate as I; those who cannot easily overcome the effects of this disabling illness.”
Mr Hubbard completed the ride in five hours. To find out more visit www.virginmoneygiving.com/TonyHubbard
