A CHARITY that carries out life-saving rescues in the Ashbourne area is inviting people to abseil more than 200ft down the tower at Derby Cathedral to raise money.
The charity-run Derby Mountain Rescue Team has arranged the abseil in October and wants to hear from anyone in the Ashbourne area willing to take on the challenge.
The event takes place on October 5 and 6 and participants already signed up from the Ashbourne area range in age from 14 to 91.
The event is being held to raise money for Derby Mountain Rescue, which is raising funds to build its first headquarters, in Mickleover and Derby Cathedral, which is hoping to raise funds towards replacing the aging heating and wiring systems.
Participants are asked to raise a minimum of £100 in sponsorship as a condition of entry and must be over 14. To find out more about the challenge visit the team’s website at www.derbymrt.org.uk/abseil
