A MOTORIST who stopped to help a police officer at the scene of a car crash has been asked to contact Ashbourne police.

PC Rachel Baggaley was directing traffic at the scene of a road accident in Hulland Ward on Monday, February 25 when she discovered a stray dog.

To prevent the animal hindering emergency services, PC Baggaley borrowed a bandage from an ambulance crew to tether the dog while she directed motorists around the accident.

A passing motorist stopped and handed a lead to PC Baggaley, allowing her to control the dog more easily while assisting at the scene of the incident.

PC Baggaley said: “I would like to thank her for her kindness and I aim to retrieve it and return it to her if she could contact me please.”

PC Baggaley can be contacted by telephoning Ashbourne police station on the nn-emergency telephone number 101.
