POLICE are offering free posters to discourage unwanted trick-or-treaters and to prevent a rise in anti-social behaviour over Halloween and Bonfire Night.
Householders are being offered signs to put in windows and doors and retailers can obtain posters for their shops to inform customers that eggs and flour will not be sold to anyone aged below 16.
A third poster, reminding people of the laws around fireworks will be handed out by safer neighbourhood teams as they prepare to increase patrols in the town during the period.
Officers out on patrol can use powers to disperse groups of people causing a nuisance and events have been arranged to give young people other activities to take part in instead of hanging around on the streets.
