THE National Methodist Youth Band is set to perform in Ashbourne Methodist Church next weekend.
The concert, from 7.30pm on Saturday, November 16 will raise money for Action for Children and tickets are on sale now.
Players in the band, which last appeared in Ashbourne 15 years ago, have all been picked after reaching a required musical standard and are aged between 18 and 25.
The chosen musicians are from all parts of the country but two are from the Derby area.
Formed in April 1987 the musicians give up some of their weekends to travel to concerts and rehearsals - meeting four or five times per year from Friday evening until Sunday afternoon at each venue.
As an extra the band will also be playing on Ashbourne Market Place on the same afternoon, to accompany the events centred around the Christmas lights switch on.
Tickets for the performance are £8 for adults and £5 for full time students.
They are available to purchase from Natural Choice in St John Street or by calling 01335 300699.
The proceeds from the concert will be donated to Action for Children, which is a national charity that cares for young people and their families in the UK.
