A COMMUNITY has pulled together to brighten up its village by planting 2,000 spring bulbs.
Villagers in Hulland Ward spent Saturday morning with bulb planters, spades and trowels in their hands to ensure the area is awash with new daffodils when spring returns next year.
The community challenge, which was organised by the parish council, saw groups from the church, the gardening club, the school, an art club and Women’s Institue join other residents to take part in the mass planting.
Chairman of Hulland Ward Parish Council Carrie Mortimore said: “The rain had been coming down all week, but on the morning of the event, whilst it was a little foggy, we were spared the rain.
However, the rain had softened the ground a little and in just under two hours all 2,000 bulbs were in the ground.
The Parish Council is hoping that this will become an annual event and wishes to thank all those that gave up their time to make this a success.
