The high-tech new toilet block, in Shaw Croft Car Park, is among three posh new privvies owned by Derbyshire Dales District Council to have been given an accolade at the 2012 Loo of the Year awards.
Attendants at all three facilities are celebrating and district councillors have praised the project, which was met with controversy at the time it was announced.
Chairman of the District Council’s Environment Committee, Councillor Steve Bull said: “Local people told us they wanted good quality, accessible toilets in these prime locations and, despite the tough economic climate, the District Council went ahead with the building programme last year and I’m delighted to say achieved best value on the project.
“What money can’t buy however is the fabulous extra effort and attention to detail our attendants clearly put into their work and our thanks and congratulations go to them.”
