MORE than 200 runners have taken part in Asbourne’s annual half marathon and fun runs.
Strong winds and steep hills tested entrants’ stamina while superb scenery helped keep their spirits up.
More than 50 running clubs were represented but Dale Annable, of Heanor Running Club, came home first in an impressive time of 1:15:35.
Mathhew Stratford, representing Redhill Road Runners, came second and Ashbourne Running Club’s own Chris Patterson took third.
The first lady to finish was Rebecca Harrison, of Cheadle Running Club, with Carolyn Hay, of Redhill Road Runners, and Sutton in Ashfield Harriers’ Latetitia Moakes coming second and third respectively.
Natalie Jones was the first Ashbourne lady to finish, achieving a time of 1:53:00.
Fun runners, of which there were 170. tackled a course up the Punch and back into town along Windmill Lane.
Proceeds went to Mayfield and Ellastone First Responders.
