DOVEDALE Sheepdog Trials winners have been announced following what organisers said was a ‘perfect’ two days of competition at the event site in Blore.
Competitors travelled in from miles around but the overall championship winner was Tom Lawrenson and his dog Max from Brindle in lancashire with 130 points.
Nij Vias and Jake, from Wigston in Leicestershire came second with 123 points and Mark Elliot with Tip, from Lazonby in Cumbria came a close third with 122 points.
Tuesday’s winner was Derek Cheetham from Bolsterone whose dog Skip helped him to 112 points and the local open singles was won by John Harvey from Leek with Nell.
Thomas Longton, from Quenmore, took the honours on Wednesday with his dog Maya helping him to 93 points.
Jim Cropper from Bacup took second and third place with Nidd helping him to 86 points and Tommey helping him earn 84 points.
Now in its 61st year, the trials take place every year on land off Blore Crossroads near Ilam.
This year’s president was Richard Wain.
