Nursery gets a green award

A CHILDREN’S nursery near Ashbourne has been handed a bronze medal for its efforts over the summer to go green.

Treetops Nursery in Derby Road has achieved a ‘Company Bronze Award’ both for its eco-friendly projects over the summer and for taking the initiative to help parents with recycling since Christmas.

Nursery manager Sian Wride said: “As many of the families will received many items in their house over the festive period that can been recycled, we decided to help them by offloading some of it to us.

“The nursery has offered the parents a recycling service for all their unwanted Christmas Cards.

“The parents have brought cards in, in their hundreds, ready for the children of the nursery to recycle them, and encourage the parents and families as well as the nursery to become environmentally aware.”

Treetops Nurseries is the ninth largest nursery group in the UK, with 31 nurseries across the country offering 2,100 childcare places.

Established in 1990, it employs a team of 700 childcare professionals who care for more than 1,300 children between the ages of six weeks and five years every day.
