ONE of the UK’s leading mask and puppet theatre companies is to bring The Amazing Adventures of Pinocchio to Alstonefield.

Strangeface Theatre Company celebrated 10 years of touring in 2012 by producing the show for The Stables, a 400-seat theatre near Milton Keynes which was founded in 1970 by Sir John Dankworth and Dame Cleo Laine.

Now, the company, which includes the three Dean brothers including director, Ashley and composer, Mark, are bringing The Amazing Adventures of Pinocchio to Alstonefield as part of the Live and Local rural arts programme.

Artistic director and creator of the masks and puppets, Russell Dean, said: “While we know from audiences that children as young as three and four have been ‘enthralled’ we make our productions to be layered so that groups of adults should enjoy them equally – though perhaps for different reasons.

“This version of the story goes back to the original series of episodes from the Italian author so you might be surprised by some of the differences between the characters created by Collodi and those from the iconic Disney film.”

The performance at Alstonefield Village Hall is at 7pm on Saturday, March 2.

Tickets are £8 for adults and £6 for children under the age of 12.
