A FRESH wave of funding for community groups and organisations which improve the quality of life in their area has been announced by police and crime commissioner Alan Charles.
Mr Charles’s Crime Prevention Fund will provide £250,000 worth of grants to organisations and applicants who have helped tackle his police and crime priorities.
The funding will be delivered in two separate rounds of £125,000 each and grants up to a maximum of £25,000 are available for the right projects.
He said: “Taking a more preventative approach to crime is not only cost-effective but delivers better results in the long-term.
“For every offender who is reformed and guided away from criminal behaviour, there are fewer future victims and the money which would have been spent on a police investigation can instead be invested into more holistic services.”
