ASHBOURNE'S fire-damaged swimming pool building is unlikely to be back in use until the autumn.
Derbyshire Dales District Council was forced to close the pool in Ashbourne Leisure Centre last month following an arson attack at the rear of the plant room.
The authority says inspections have now been carried out but delay has been caused by problems in sourcing a replacement part for the damaged filtration unit.
A spokesman said: "A like-for-like replacement would mean placing an overseas order and a lead time of several weeks.
"We are trying to source a alternative more rapidly but the likelihood is that we're now looking at autumn at the earliest before the pool is back in use."
The pool was closed when a blaze broke out late on Saturday, July 26.
All the centre's other areas, including the fitness suite and sports hall, remain open.
Police have arrested a 16-year-old youth and two 18-year-old men following the fire. The teenagers have all been released on bail.
