THE BEARDED Theory festival has been named Best Small Festival at the annual UK Festival Awards.

Already in 2013 Bearded Theory has been awarded a Best Family Festival Gold Award by Festival Kidz.

The festival will be celebrating its seventh successful year in 2014.

This year’s event was held at Kedleston Hall.

Festival director Steve Blount said: “It gives us huge pleasure to collect this award on behalf of everyone who makes Bearded Theory special.

“That includes our crew, our volunteers, the acts and, most of all, the people who buy the tickets and make it all possible.

“They are the people we do this for and the support we get from them makes us very proud and humble.”

The next Bearded Theory, which brings an annual £1m boost to the local economy, will take place from 22 to 25 May on a new site at Catton Park, on the Derbyshire and Staffordshire border.

Acts so far for 2014 include Carter USM, The Stranglers, Peter Hook and The Light, Oysterband, The Blockheads, Hayseed Dixie, The Orb Soundsystem, Fishbone, King Prawn, Merry Hell.
