Whatstandwell Show this Saturday: Prize categories include best biscuit and heaviest onion

PRIZES and trophies will be awarded for the longest runner bean, heaviest onion and best Victoria sponge cake at a produce show at the weekend.

The Family Tree in Whatstandwell is the venue for this year's Home Crafts and Produce Show on Saturday.

The show will feature all the usual favourites including classes for fruit and vegetables, flowers and house plants, home-baking, bread, needlecraft, handicrafts and photography. There will be nearly 50 different categories, including two for children, best "Miniature Garden" and best "Decorated Biscuit".

Money raised from the show will go to the hosts, Whatstandwell Social Club.

Competitors are asked to turn up between 10am and noon on the day.
