Protest over travellers' site

Comments (1)

PROTESTORS gathered at Ashbourne allotments yesterday ahead of a scheduled site visit by planners to the proposed traveller's site off Watery Lane.

Allotment holders held placards voicing their objection to the plans, which could see a traveller's settlement for up to five caravans created in a field which borders the allotments, Ashbourne cemetery and a district council depot.

The site visit was planned in preparation for a meeting due to be held last night, but at the time of going to press, it was unclear as to whether the visit would go ahead or not.

The application has since been deferred to allow for fuller consultation.

Good thing this traveller nonsense should be stopped now,It's the 21st century for goodness sake, let them use proper Caravan parks of stay at home,Instead of spreading crime and litter all over the place.
